INTRAKAT SIGNS 1 mil. CONTRACT WITH THE MUNICIPALITY OF KATERINI FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A METROPOLITAN OPTICAL FIBRE NETWORK
Peania, February 22 2007 – INTRAKAT recently signed a contract with the Municipality of Katerini for the construction of a metropolitan optical fibre network worth 1 mil.
The contract involves the supply, installation and safeguard of the proper operation of the subterranean optical fibre network infrastructure, of the infrastructure of the active telecommunications equipment and its connectivity to the network, as well as of the wireless and access network infrastructure.The total length of the metropolitan optical fibre network measures to approximately 11.5 km and the works are expected to be completed by the end of 2007.This is INTRAKAT’s first metropolitan broadband network contract, in the framework of the Information Society’s Operations Program.Furthermore the company has already been announced bidder in a series of related contracts under the same program and is waiting to sign them.
The program’s basic aims are customer service and an improvement in quality of life in the broader Greek region, by setting in operation integrated information and communication technology systems in critical sectors, such as public management, health, transport and the environment.
