Peania, January 28, 2009 – INTRAKAT and Group Vinci – the third largest construction company worldwide – signed a contract at the latter’s headquarters in Paris, for the construction of the steel roof of the “Le Mans” football team stadium, in the city of Le Mans, France, valued at 6.3 million euro for the first phase of the project.
The project includes the study, construction and installation of the steel roofing of the venue. INTRAKAT’s extensive knowhow and experience in the development and manufacturing of complex large scale and aesthetically challenging steel structures, constituted the key factor for the selection of INTRAKAT as the project contractor. It is noted that the aforementioned project is a 35-year long concession project that Group VINCI has undertaken.
The steel roof of the stadium has a total surface of 24,000 square meters and will encompass a series of innovative materials application as well as construction techniques, while it is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.
The specific project signifies the international recognition of INTRAKAT’s extensive knowhow, high specialization and expertise in complex steel structure projects such as the Panthessaliko Stadium of Volos, the Karaiskaki Stadium, the Olympic Equestrian Stadium in Attika, the Phaliron Pavilion and the Olympic Tae Kwon Doo Venue. It is also the beginning of a long term and mutually constructive cooperation with one of the world’s largest construction companies.
The design and construction of the steel roofing will be completed at INTRAKAT’s steel and electromechanical construction factory in Larissa, which is one of the most significant plants in Greece, and is considered to be amongst the most modern facilities across Europe.
