INTRAKAT is sponsoring the 1st forum of The Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council "WTERT"

Technology as well as international practices are the key factors determining the evolution of the critical, for Greece, issue of waste management. In this manner, INTRAKAT supports the 1st Forum of the Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council “WTERT” addressing the topic “Thermal Processing of Municipal Solid Waste through the Production of Energy” that will take place on Friday June 19, 2009 at The Athens Intercontinental Hotel.

The objective of the forum is to inform everyone in Greece about the application of environmentally friendly technologies to waste management worldwide. With the main pillar being the thermal processing solutions with simultaneous production of energy, which is currently used in over 600 plants worldwide, people seek to achieve the best technical and economic solution of the contemporary problem of managing the 5.5 million tons of household waste produced in our country on annual basis.

At this forum several eminent members of the Greek as well as the international community are participating along with representatives from political parties, local authorities and the appropriate organizations and private sector associations with the objective to foster fruitful discussion and to submit propositions towards the solution of this pivotal subject.

The forum is being organized by the Council for Sustainable Development of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) while being supported by the Earth Engineering Center of Columbia University, N. York, the European Confederation of European Waste-to-Energy Plants (CEWEP) and the International Solid Waste Organization (ISWA).  A detailed agenda of the forum is available at “WTERT’s” website: www.synergia.com.gr
